1947, the year Bernard Crawley "Uncle Bernie" was born. In 1995, Uncle Bernie, who was almost 50, was tasked with raising his two daughters on his own. His wife's untimely death left him with a challenge, which he graciously accepted. As a Vietnam Veteran, he didn't graduate high school- let alone college and worked two jobs most of his life to provide for his daughters. It is through his sacrifice that his daughters were able to become who they are today.
Though Bernie wasn't dealt the best hand that life had to offer, he taught his daughters that with a positive attitude anything is possible. Uncle Bernie always had jazz music playing, a Newton’s cradle going and the "fancy candles that you don’t burn." So, our founder created both for you- the fancy kind that you don’t burn and the ones that you do.
Our hope, is that these candles create a safe space for you to relax and practice self-care. Life is filled with uncertainties, highs and lows. If Uncle Bernie taught us one thing, it’s that peace of mind is priceless. Though Uncle Bernie is no longer with us, his light shines on. The choice is yours, we hope you'll choose to BE A LIGHT!
With love & light,
Bernard's Daughter, 1947 Candles
